Elden Ring
Elden Ring is by far the biggest game FromSoft has made to date and it is also my favorite as of writing this post.
I think it has every aspect I loved about the other souls games I played but boosted by like 10 times. I think, these games are at heart, Metroidvanias and Elden Ring feels most like one. The open world and literally do anything whenever you want nature of the game make this game feel way more like a Metroidvania than the others. I’m glad to have platinumed it.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Truly one of the games of all time.
For real this game isn’t really the best. It’s not a bad game by any means it was fun enough to play and to platimum but it was short and kept missing on like so many aspects. I played the other Spider-Man game a while back and it was MILES (haha get it?) better than this. At least from what I remember, it’s been a really long time.
Cat Quest
Peak gaming. Cat Quest is a game I remember from when I was a little girl—and seeing it on sale for super cheap, I nabbed it. It was a great decision. I remembered this game very fondly and I’m glad to report that it is not nostalgia this game slaps.
The gameplay loop is addictive and keeps you playing, I played it for 10 hours and got the platinum, couldn’t put the game down for those 10 hours. You can watch my full playthrough split into three parts here: Cat Quest Playthrough
Grand Theft Auto 5’s missions suck
It has been a really long time since I last played GTA 5 so I barely remember anything, but a GTA 5 video came up in my YouTube recommendations and the thought came to my mind, GTA 5’s missions fucking SUCK.
There’s not that many good missions in the game with the heists being somewhat decent, and even those don’t have much going for them. The missions of the game just feel like “drive to this place, watch cutscene, shoot people, watch cutscene, mission passed”
World Trigger
World Trigger is a super underrated shounen battle anime in my opinion. I don’t hear people talking about it like at all even though it’s probably one of the best in the genre. World Trigger has amazing characters and a banger power system—and an interesting plot to top it all off of course. The world building is nothing to scoff at and the show is filled TO THE BRIM with tournament arcs, which we all know everyone loves.
Bloodborne
If this game got a sequel it would be more than a masterpiece. And I do believe it. The game has a lot going for it despite it having a lot of flaws, if I’d written this post a few years ago I think it’d be different but having now played through Sekiro, Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3 (I’ll go back to ds1 and 2 eventually)
I can say that while this isn’t my favorite game fromsoft has made it is still amazing and still holds up even after all these years. Though it’s being heavily held back by the lack of a rerelease on better hardware. I actually tried replaying the game before writing this post but I just could not do it—30fps is just too shit to do this game justice.
Hades
I’m a sucker for a good roguelite and Hades is one of the best, and also one of the most unique. Hades is one of the first (if not the first) roguelites to have a very prominent story. The story is built around you dying and interacting with the different NPCs at the house of Hades. The game has a total of 21,020 voice lines and 30 voiced characters.
Persona 5 Royal
One of the most stylish games of the decade, and a masterpiece in story telling and JRPG gameplay.
The Premise
You play as Joker, a high schooler who after a tussle with a man heckling a woman—gets sent off to Tokyo to stay with a family friend, Sakura Sojiro… with a new and shiny criminal record to boot.
On the first day of school you meet your soon to be best bro Sakamoto Ryuji, and somehow accidentally—you end up in the game’s first dungeon.
Persona 5 Royal: Tips for All Confidants MAX
I’ll be detailing a few tips on getting all of your confidants to MAX in Persona 5 Royal. This can be done on your first playthrough with ease if you just keep a few things in mind. This is a lot more lenient than in the original Persona 5.
- Always carry a persona of the same arcana as the confidant you’re about to hang out with, this increases the amount of points you get.
- On that note you should always pick the best dialogue option for the most points. You can easily Google these or once you have it you can use Chihaya’s last ability to tell you which ones to choose. Obviously googling is better as you don’t have to spend 10k yen for it.
- Prioritize hanging out with confidants over everything else
- Books are amazing, ideally you read them after reading the speed reading book you can get from the school library on and after July 1st. But you can probably do it before if you have time, especially on the days you get to read on the train. So you will ideally always have an unread book available for those days.
- Big Bang Burger Challenge is really good for stats, just make sure you can pass it before trying. It will give you points in every stat every time you pass it.
- USE CHIHAYA!!! When you unlock her you should get her up ASAP as she has super duper useful abilities. Some confidants will have events where you cannot get enough points in order to advance them the next time you hang out, so it will waste time. However with Chihaya you can avoid this completely by using her abilities, specifically her rank 5 one which will increase your affinity with a confidant of your choice, doing this does not advance time and you can use it to avoid having to do extra hangouts with confidants and waste days. Her other abilities are useful too.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Sekiro is a great game with one of the best combat systems in any video game ever. And I’m glad to have played and completed it—and to have platinumed it. It is definitely in my top 10.
The Combat
The most important part of the game, is obviously the combat, and the bosses as well—they go hand in hand. Sekiro’s combat is often described as a dance, and that’s not wrong I don’t think. In the start the abilities at your disposal are basic, but you really don’t need much more to beat the game, there is one ability that should be in your default kit, though I know why it isn’t… that is the Mikiri Counter ability. It is the first ability you will ever get probably and it serves as a way to teach the player about the ability system, so it makes sense that it’s not in your default kit since for most players it will be the first ability they ever acquire.
